Awards ceremony for the winners of "Railways and integration: identity and culture in a multicultural Europe" will be held in the Presidential Room at Roma Ostiense. The competition, included as part of initiatives in 2010, European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion is sponsored by Project ImmigrazioneOggi non-profit organization with the State Railways and rail networks France (Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français), Spain (Red Nacional de Ferrocarriles Españoles), Poland (Polskie Koleje Panstwowe), Belgium (Société nationale des chemins de Fer Belges) and Luxembourg (Les Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois), with the aim to involve and raise awareness among European citizens on issues of social inclusion of the weakest, with particular reference to immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers.
The two winners photographers Mimmo Pastorelli and Fatima El Har, which the jury were able to better represent the themes of the meeting, welcome and 'integration into European stations, will receive both a medal Head of State and a cash prize of 1,500 euro. At the same time will be the photo exhibition with a selection of 44 photographs that will be open in Rome until Dec. 3. The same photographs will be exhibited from November 24 in Paris and Madrid, before moving into other European capitals.
